Seventy years has passed since the official end of World War Two, although some 6.6 million Japanese were stranded overseas at its end.

Some 6.24 million military personnel and civilians abroad were repatriated to Japan by the end of 1947 and many documents in the JACAR database concern the details of this process.

The information online dates until 1947 and can't include some restricted documents,


for example, the documents relating to repatriation of detainees from Siberia are not covered.
