An underlined word or phrase in bold-faced type is linked to the Glossary of the Russo-Japanese War.

When a state delimits the borderline or constructs military facilities, accurate information about geography is indispensable. It was an urgent issue for Japan in the Meiji era to obtain or create the map of various areas in order to respond to domestic and international situations.

In this connection, the Center for Asian Historical Records stores the following materials.

1. "Positions of Russian and Japanese armies in the Russo-Japanese War" (Battle of the 4th army around Fengtian, position of Akiyama detachment unit and 2nd cavalry brigade, unit symbol, etc.)
2. Monograph: Year of 1900 - Extract of naval war history of Qing Incident (Boxer Uprising)
3. Survey Sheet on the Jiandao Issues
4. From 23 May 1906 to 24 August 1906 (Full set of documents on the demarcation of the Japan-Russia border in the Sakhalin Island)
5. From 20 February, 1904 to 24 February, 1904 (Exploration of Tibet by Narita Yasuteru)
6. Our comments on the contents of each sketch map of Fengtian Province (Current situation of whole Mukden Province Volume 1)
7. Documents relating to 3rd Sea Fort
