@Hirose Takeo is a navy officer of the Japanese navy in Meiji era. Hirose Takeo participated in the Port Arthur (Lushun) blockade operations and died in action on March 27, 1904 (37th year of Meiji). He was recognized for his distinguished services in the action as a model of serviceman and became a national hero. His elder brother, Hirose Katsuhiko, also participated as navy officer in the Russo-Japanese War and was promoted to rear admiral in 1911 (44th year of Meiji) and died in 1913 (2nd year of Taisho)
