Period About Link
February 8th (Mon) - March 14th (Sun), 2021

In 1871, the Japanese Han(feudal domain) system was abolished to renovate the country as a modern centralized nation. Faced with this new paradigm, former Daimyo(feudal lords) were forced to change their way of life to live through the brand-new era.
Commemorating the 150th year since the abolition of Japanese Han, this exhibition conveys the nationwide state of new-born prefectures as they experienced turmoil in transitioning to an era after the Meiji Restoration. In addition, this exhibition offers a close look at the dramatic experiences of the last Daimyo of each region and how they adapted to the Meiji era.
