Notice of Renewal of “National Archives of Japan Digital Archive” and “Japan Center for Asian Historical Records (JACAR)”

National Archives of Japan has operated “National Archives of Japan Digital Archive”, which allows users to search catalog information and view digital images of archival materials held by the Archives, as well as “Japan Center for Asian Historical Records (JACAR)”, an electronic records center that provides access to Asian historical materials preserved by government agencies. Both services are based on the concept of enabling “anytime, anywhere, by anyone, free and open to all” to access archival information online.

To further improve usability, operability, and the overall quality of services, both systems are scheduled to undergo renewal and begin new operations in April 2026.

Accordingly, system transition work will be carried out as follows.

　

1. Start of Trial Operation of the New System

March 23, 2026 (Monday), around 2:00 PM (Japan Standard Time, JST)
No service suspension will occur during the transition.

　

2. Start of Full Operation of the New System

April 1, 2026 (Wednesday) 9:00 AM (Japan Standard Time, JST)
