On November 5, 1943, the Greater East Asia Conference was held at the Imperial Diet Building (the current Diet Building), and the Greater East Asia Joint Declaration was announced the following day on November 6. This conference was attended by Prime Minister Hideki Tojo of Japan, acting Prime Minister Wan Waithayakon of Thailand, President Laurel of the Philippines, Prime Minister Ba Maw of Burma, the Executive Yuan Wang Jingwei of the National Government of the Republic of China, Prime Minister Zhang Jinghui of Manchukuo, and Chandra Bose, Head of State of the Provisional Government of Free India. Together they announced their commitment to “coexistence and co-prosperity,” “respect for independence,” and “cultural exaltation” through the Greater East Asia Joint Declaration. The conference concluded on November 7.

There is an article on the Greater East Asia Assembly National Gathering held at the conclusion of the conference on November 7. Over 100,000 people gathered at Hibiya Park for the event.
