On August 30, 1939, the Nobuyuki Abe Cabinet was established following the resignation of the Kiichiro Hiranuma Cabinet. The demise of the Hiranuma Cabinet was triggered by the conclusion of the German-Soviet Nonaggression Pact.


  • Document 1 is issue No. 81 of Shashin Shuho, which was published on September 6, 1939. It covers the establishment of the Abe Cabinet.
  • Document 2 is a Kobun Betsuroku that was drawn up when Nobuyuki Abe was appointed Prime Minister.
