 Takahashi Korekiyo was a statesman and financier from Meiji Era to the pre-war days of Showa. He entered the Bank of Japan in 1892 (25th year of Meiji), became the vice president of the bank in 1899 (32nd year of Meiji) and helped to establish the gold standard and sell government bonds abroad in fundraising for the Russo-Japanese War. He took office as Minister of Finance in 1931 (6th year of Showa) and implemented the so-called "Takahashi finance policy", but was assassinated in the February 26 uprising in 1936. He died at the age of 81.
 The Japan Center for Asian Historical Records retains a large collection of materials relating to Takahashi Korekiyo.

 To raise military funds for the Russo-Japanese War, there was a pressing need under the Japanese financial situations in those days to invite the subscription of foreign currency bonds in addition to domestic government bonds. This is the decision of the Cabinet council on subscription of foreign currency bonds. The 3rd image of the materials indicates that Takahashi Korekiyo, Vice President of the Bank of Japan, was to be dispatched to London according to the decision of the Cabinet

1907 (40th year of Meiji) Takahashi Korekiyo was awarded the title of Baron. The peerage was donated in recognition of his contribution to the Russo-Japanese War.
1911 (44th year of Meiji) Appointed as President of the Bank of Japan.
1913 (2nd year of Taisho) Appointed as Minister of Finance in the 1st Yamamoto Cabinet.
1931 (6th year of Showa) Appointed as Minister of Finance in the first Inukai Cabinet. This was the fifth time as Minister of Finance.
 Then he implemented so-called "Takahashi finance policy".
1936 (11th year of Showa) Takahashi Korekiyo was assassinated in the February 26 Incident in 1936 at the age of 81.
