On May 27 and 28, 1905, the Battle of Tsushima—a pivotal clash in the Russo-Japanese War—took place. Materials on the battle, including telegrams from, post-action reports (detailed engagement reports) during the actual fighting, entries from the “Top Secret Sea Battle History 1904 & 1905 ,” and more, are available via the JACAR database. This video profiles these and other documents, originally preserved by the Center for Military History at the National Institute for Defense Studies, in a narrative format that explores the course of the battle and the stories surrounding it.
