The database supplied by Japan Center for Asian Historical Records （referred to as "JACAR" hereinafter） has been constructed on the DjVu format, which is the next generation image format. The user consequently needs to download the DjVu Browser Plug-in and install it into his or her computer before browsing the said materials. The Plug-in is free. 2. The JuGeMu Player is necessary for browsing materials by the JPEG2000 format.
Targeting on the materials scheduled to be released after 2008, JACAR supplies the materials in the format of JPEG2000 which provides better image quality at the same file sizes as well as the current DjVu and JPEG formats. The user needs to download the JuGeMu Player Plug-in and install it into his or her computer before browsing the said materials. The Plug-in is free.
