"Asia-related records" refers to :
"the collection of materials from about the middle of the 19th century, for the time being concentrating on those from the first half of the 20th century. The geographical scope will be mainly the East Asian region that includes Japan, Southeast Asia, Pacific islands, and Oceania for the time being, and depending on the subject matter will include other regions as well." (as recommended by the deliberative committee above)
"Our country's important official documents and other records that serve as historical records concerning the relationship between our country and neighboring Asian countries and other countries in modern times." (Japanese Cabinet decision)
