Document search process

(3) Layered Search

Layered Search selects the layer to search the documents. How to use the Layered Search is described as below.
This is useful when you know the organizations holding the document, or who the document has been released by.

(a)The Layered Search screen will be displayed when you click on the "Layered Search" icon at the left side of the search screen, or select the "Layered Search" from the search menu.
It hierarchically displays a list of series.
By default, it only shows "National Archives of Japan", "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan", "The National Institute of Defense Studies".

(b)Please select the layer of the organization you wish to search. It expands along the document classification scheme. (left frame) Clicking any of the series (left frame) will displays a list of documents contained. (displayed both in right and left frame circled by red
The title of the selected series is displayed in bold.

(c)The subseries is displayed by the process above. By clicking the desirable subseries, you can view a list of subjects contained in the subseries.
