新しい資料提供システムの運用開始。 |
| アジア歴史資料センター資料提供システムの更新にあたって |
アジア歴史資料センターは、２００１年１１月３０日に開設され、本年で開設５周年を迎えました。この間、アジア歴史資料センター（以下、アジ歴と呼ぶ。）は、国内のみならず海外の多くの方々から利用され、情報提供について建設的なアドバイスや要望が多数寄せられました。アジ歴ではみなさまの声を受けて、システムの改良や提供する内容の充実に努めてきました。２００４年２月には初めての試みとして「公文書に見る日露戦争」をインターネット特別展としてホームページに掲載しました。マスコミにも取り上げられ大変な反響を得ることができました。その後、「公文書に見る」シリーズとして、「岩倉使節団」、「日米交渉」を公開してきました。これらは利用者からの強い要望もあり、常設展として今後も新しい資料を追加し内容を充実させていきます。また、対外的な情報提供を強化するために、英語検索システムを強化、中国語、韓国語のホームページの充実にも努めています。
一方、情報基盤の進捗により、前回は時期尚早として採用を見送ったＥＡＤ（Encoded Archival Description：符号化記録史料記述）が利用できるようになりました。さらに、他機関との横断検索を可能とするZ39.50、ＳＲＷ（Search/RetrieveWeb Service）等の技術を採用しました。アジ歴では、５年目のシステム更新を迎えて、これらの最新技術に、みなさまから頂いたご要望やご指摘を反映させてシステムを提供できたことをご報告します。
アジ歴は、１９９９年１１月３０日の閣議決定にあるように「我が国とアジア近隣諸国等との間の歴史に関し、国が保管する資料について国民一般及び関係諸国民の利用を容易にし、併せて、これら諸国との相互理解の促進に資することを目的」として、「いつでも」「どこでも」「だれもが」「自由に」「無料で」利用できるサービスを提供していきます。みなさまの更なるご利用を願ってやみません。
